Fire (2019)

In 2019 Australia had it's most catastrophic 'fire season'. It engulfed much of the east coast of Australia, along with parts of south Australia and Western Australia. Photojournalists have a particular way of photographing events such as these and often their images are from the front line and very dramatic but no less important. The images I've made during this time reflect two evacuations (one to Bathurst and one to Sydney). Hardly a big deal considering we lost nothing. Lives and property were lost in the face of political inaction and denial that climate change is a real thing, impacting lives, the environment and that thing called 'the economy'.
